Milbrook Lodge

When Oprah and Mairtin first got in touch with us about their summer wedding in Ballynahinch, we were so excited – they were planning the most relaxed countryside wedding with a live band, a photobooth and even a surprise fireworks display. Oprah and Mairtin are the loveliest people, super chilled, up for having a laugh and most certainly know how to party, we couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!

Getting ready

Christin rocked up at Oprah's childhood home, where the girls were getting ready in their matching pjs and enjoying a pre-wedding drink, we had a proper giggle that morning as Jordan humphries was doing the girls make up and anyone that has seen her videos knows shes totally hilarious. Mr Beardy took the trip to Newcastle to hang out with Mairtin and his team, there were lots of fun gifts exchanged and a few pre wedding sips of whiskey had! Both parties were really chill so the vibe was awesome, the stand out moment for sure was when Oprah’s father saw her for the first time, it got pretty emotional ( even christin shed a few tears) and we feel pretty lucky that we get to capture such awesome moments like that.

The ceremony

The wedding took place in Milbrook Lodge Hotel, and it was a really lovely ceremony filled with laughter, love and their nearest and dearest getting up for some heartfelt readings. After the ceremony the couple danced back down the aisle together to claps and cheers and then the celebrations well and truly began. Oprah wore a beautiful lace wedding dress by Jenny Lindop with the most incredible pearl and lace back detail and Mairtin wore a very dapper blue suit, we’re sure you’ll all agree they looked stunning!

The reception

The wedding reception took place in another part of Milbrook Lodge, which they’d decorated with hand written chalk boards, old childhood photographs, autumnal details and plenty of sweets on the candy cart! It was so wonderfully personalised and suited the venue and couple perfectly. we love that these two have a real fun side to their personalities embracing the childhood elements with a Mr & Mrs Caterpillar wedding cake ( complete with baby Caterpillar mini roll babies!)

It was a beautifully sunny day, which suited the theme of the day perfectly and allowed us to take the celebrations outside in the stunning grounds. While the guests enjoyed canapes and cocktails, we let the happy couple mingle with their friends and families and enjoy a few glasses of bubbly from the champagne tower. We had a lot of fun with the bridal party in the gardens in front of the beautiful iron gazebo and then took the happy couple down to the moat to explore the rest of the grounds for their couple portraits.

The Party

After the meal the Just Adam band started up ( who we have had the pleasure of seeing a few time now so we knew this reception would be lit!), Oprah & Mairtin put a lot of thought and effort into entertainment for their guests with a brilliant photo booth, sparklers and party games. After the couples first dance, Mairtin ushered everyone outside as he had organised a surprise fireworks display for Oprah, it was the most spectacular fireworks display we had ever seen and was such a perfect way to end the celebrations.
